Angle-Joseph Antoine Roux, Antoine Roux (1765–1835) was a French fine artist who specialized in maritime art of ship portrait.
He lived and worked in Marseille during most interesting period of sailing ships development. Early in life he was apprenticed to his father, Joseph Roux (1752–93), a hydrographer and artist in his own right, spending his leisure hours painting and drawing. Antoine died of cholera in Marseille in 1835.
He employed technique of watercolor over ink and pencil drawings and brilliantly combined precise depiction of ships architecture, proportions, rigging and other details with very romantic and dynamic feel in his work. Substantial amount of his watercolors were created to the orders of ship's owners or captains from different countries, including United States.

All Antoine's four children followed in his artistic footsteps, with his three sons becoming known for their painting as well: Mathieu-Antoine Roux (1799-1872); François Joseph Frédéric Roux (1805–1870), 'Frédéric', and the third, François Geoffroy Roux (1811–1882), 'François', was appointed in 1876 as an official Peintre de la Marine of French Navy

We thoroughly research techniques of sailing ship modeling of the past and use them to create our own models of sailing vessels, made in extreme miniature sizes, comparable to smallest Prisoner of War and Dieppe models.
