SAILING SHIPS

We offer very small editions of ready for display wooden handmade ship models comparable in size and quality with small Prisoner of War ship models or Dieppe models carved from ivory.
Imagine small Napoleonic Prisoner of War or Dieppe Ivory ship models with all their details and amazingly skillful handwork, but made correctly to the scale , ship's architecture and proportions. This is exactly how we build sailing ship models in scales 1:1250, 1:600, 1:384. In addition to serious research and personal exam of POW Dieppe and other period ship models, we  found great inspiration and knowledge in works of old painters who specialized in ships portraying genre, first of all Jean Jerome Baugean (1764- 1826?) and Ange-Joseph Antoine Roux (1765-1835). Certainly countless old and recent books on ship architecture, rigging, armament and seamanship are lined up our library shelves, so you can be sure that these extreme miniature models are made with deep expertise in this complex field.  Scherbak Ship Models has long tradition (2 generations) of creating miniature wooden models of sailing ships. We restore and adopt the best traditions of ship-modeling of the past and develop our own style in this field of Nautical Art.
